The exhibition “The Other Side of the Alamo: Art Against the Myth” at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center in San Antonio has been extended through October 12. Josh Feola in Artsy calls it “one of the most revelatory exhibitions mounted for the city’s tricentennial.”
The exhibition and forthcoming catalog debunk myths associated with the Alamo and address issues such as racism, colonialism, and slavery. The last section of the exhibition treats topical issues such as immigration and the status of the Dreamers. A symposium and catalog signing with curator Ruben C. Cordova and participating artists will take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 8, which is Columbus Day.
